Forgotten Forest Fantasy Figures

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

The Forgotten Forest is home to witches, faeries, dragons, goblins and many more one of a kind sculpted art dolls. They are the work of Australian artist Michael Palmer. Coming from a film make-up and special effects background, Michael has been sculpting his fantasy creatures for over a decade, and his creations can now be found in collections around the globe. Michael’s work has won awards, and it is easy to see why, not only are the pieces extremely high quality, there is a certain irresistible black humour evident – like the Venus Faery Trap shown here.

This video was embedded using the YouTuber plugin by Roy Tanck. Adobe Flash Player is required to view the video.

Instructions guides a traveller safely beyond magical gates and enchanted cottages, by gardens and woods populated by princesses, wolves, and witches, past a riddling ferryman, and through sea and sky on the backs of enchanted creatures. Its message of the value of courage, wit, and adventurousness makes it a perfect gift for anyone embarking on a journey, especially graduates of any age.

The new collaboration between Neil Gaiman and Charles Vess is now available. Any work by either of these chaps is always a treat, and Instructions promises to be just that. Take a peek at the trailer above for a glimpse of the magic!

The Tooth, the Whole Tooth, and Nothing But the Tooth

Saturday, March 6th, 2010
To us adults, losing a tooth is scary. The mind cannot stay away from toothless witches, beggars, and the overwhelming dental costs. We hopefully try to protect our teeth from any kind of fall. But for kids, there is even more at stake.

Faeries In The News

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Faeries have been popping up in magazines all over the place recently…
The 19th issue of US publication Witches and Pagans (formally newWitch magazine) was a Faerie Special and featured interviews with RJ Stewart and SJ Tucker; a profile of 19th century mystic Ella Young; a guide to Renaissance Faires and modern Faerie culture; Abracadabra of the Faerie; and lots more.
Meanwhile UK based pagan magazine The Magical Times celebrates it’s second birthday with issue number 4. Of interest to Faerie fans are articles on Gnomes by Fiona Murray; Romance Mermaids; Eco Faeries; and artwork by Suzanne Gyseman, Emily Carding and Inner Fae Creations.
Finally Faeries and Enchantment magazine has spread its wings and is now availble in the USA and Canada as well as the UK and Europe. Find it in Borders, Barnes & Noble, Books A Million, Hastings and Indigo/Chapters book stores. FAE also has a fantastic new website where you can subscribe and order current and back issues directly.
