The Continuing & Lamentable Saga of the Suicide Brothers is a curious little short film directed by the Brownlee Brothers and starring Tom Mison and Rupert Friend as the brothers with Keira Knightley as a Fairy. It is a darkly comic fairytale set somewhere between the worlds of Hans Christian Andersen, The Brothers Grimm and Tim Burton. Brothers Barath (Tom Mison) and Bourbon (Rupert Friend) break up the boredom of their lives by trying to kill themselves each day, forever overlooking the presence of the long-suffering fairy (Keira Knightley) who lives with them.
The Academy Award of Merit, or the Oscar Statuette, designed to symbolize film achievement, is constructed of gold-plated britannium on a black metal base, stands at over a foot tall, and weighs eight and a half pounds. It is designed as an Art Deco styled knight poised with a sword in hand, standing upon a film reel with five spokes, each of which symbolize the original five branches of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences: Producers, Directors, Writers, Actors, and Technicians. (Now the Academy is divided into fifteen branches: actors, directors, cinematographers, producers, executives, writers, art directors, musicians, sound, visual effects, make up artists and hairstylists, public relations, documentary, feature animation, and short film.)
This splendid short film is the perfect antidote to sickly sweet festive fairies. I certainly wouldn’t want any of these faeries on the top of my Christmas tree!

Film maker Lisa Stock is nearing completion on her Titania Prequel project, and has just released this beautiful trailer. The prequel is a 12 minute short film leading into the feature film Titania, but also stands on its own as a complete story. It introduces the main characters, gives you a glimpse of Titania’s magical world, and shows the incident that sets the faery queen off on her journey of healing through The Medisaga Trilogy.
The prequel will première in NYC this July, and will then be taken on the road to various film festivals and faerie events.
