The Rose Fyleman Fairy Book

Friday, January 7th, 2011

I’m sure you will have read at least one of Rose Fyleman’s charming fairy poems in the past. Coming very much from the Victorian and Edwardian viewpoint of childhood innocence, Rose’s fairies are kindly folk with just a hint of mischievousness. If you like your fairyland with a touch of whimsy, these poems can’t fail to enchant. The Rose Fyleman Fairy book collects together over 50 poems complete with delightful illustrations by Hilda T Miller. The original volume was published in 1923, but now Five Leaves Publications have reprinted a new edition in hardback, including 12 colour illustrations and numerous pen and ink drawings. It is a lovely edition, and the poems themselves are perfect for sharing with the little fairies in your life (or the not so little fairies!).
