American author Mary Losure explores the Cottingley Fairy story in her new book for children The Fairy Ring, Or Elsie and Frances Fool the World. Due to be published in March by Candlewick Press, The Fairy Ring tells Frances and Elsie’s true story as a fanciful narrative, illustrated with the original fairy photographs and previously unpublished illustrations and photos from the girl’s family archives.

Ever Since Ancient Shadows was released in 2006 we’ve been eager to hear what Spanish Composer/Singer Priscilla Hernandez would do next. It has been a long time coming but The Underliving is now here and it is everything you could wish for and more. Packaged in a deluxe digipack it includes a 52 page booklet with beautiful illustrations and photography, and insights into the songs and The Underliving’s place in the Yidneth mythology. It is a shadowy place somewhere betwixt and between the Mortal and Faerie worlds, and the songs on The Underliving tell the stories of it’s inhabitants and their interactions with and influences on our world. The stand out tracks for me are The Underliving, In My Mind’s Eye, and Off The Lane, but the whole album is hauntingly lovely, sending shivers up the spine!

The Land of Faerie lies just beyond, behind, and over there. Some of its denizens are secretive and solemn, but Garvan Greenbright takes an irreverent view of life, as do the Drunken Pixies, and Starshine-See-Me-Not. Occasional lucky humans, such as artist Iris Rosewether, discover the fae in all their weird variety. It is thanks to them and their friends that our journey was possible.
Written by Sally Odgers and Aaron Pocock, with illustrations also by Aaron, Journey into Faerie is available to buy from Amazon.com.
