Rupert’s Tale: The Wheel of the Year

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

Storybooks specifically aimed at Pagan parents and their youngsters seem rather thin on the ground, which is why I am pleased to see Rupert’s Tales: The Wheel of the Year. Covering Beltane to Mabon, the book contains one story for each festival, in which little rabbit Rupert learns how and why people celebrate that time. Along the way he meets fairies, the green man and goddess. It is written by Kirja, a priestess of many years experience and illustrated by Tonia Bennington Osborn. Tonia’s sweet and simple pastel drawings are eye catching and sure to delight younger readers, while the tales are told in rhyming couplets made to be read aloud. It is perfect for sharing and introducing young children to Pagan beliefs.
Rupert’s Tales is published by Schiffer, and within the UK and Europe can be ordered direct from Bushwood Books.
