Last fall I was in England exploring some ultra modern holiday homes as part of a press trip for a project called Living Architecture. While happily snapping photographs of these contemporary buildings, one woman said to me: "Make sure there are people in the photos; architecture is about people." That was Jane Wernick, one of the project's structural engineers, who later told me she had edited an entire book about how architecture affects our psyche.

Jack in the Green is the online gallery of illustrator Sharyn Turner. Working mainly in pen and ink and watercolour, Sharyn’s work is inspired by the magic and tradition so inherent in England’s rich landscape. The paintings feature green men, fay maidens, pagan gods, mermaids, wistful princesses, and fairy folk. High quality giclee prints and greetings cards are available for many of the images.

Roses are one the primary gifts given all around the globe. They have been associated with love as well as war. There is even a war called "The War of the Roses" which was fought in England in the 1400's, but most associate the plant with the symbol of love. This idea goes back to 500 B.C. where Venus, the goddess of love, was associated with the plant and it was her sister, the goddess of flowers, who create the Rose.
