The Chinese civilization dates back to more than four thousand years ago. Over the years the Chinese have managed to develop a collection of extremely diverse art work. Archeologists have been able to find art work from the region that predates the era when history started to be written.

This article reviews the general theme of the restrictions on Western people in early 19th century China. The theme is established through a discussion of the art work of the time period. The art in review is on display at the Hong Kong Museum of Art. The article will give the pertinent conclusion to be taken from these exhibits today.

A brief look at investing in art work as opposed to the more traditional investments of stocks and shares. An examination of the pros and cons of investing in either medium.

As you may recall from a previous article I had chosen to visit the Peninsula Gallery located in Lewis Delaware for a project in my art class. This is a small privately owned gallery which specializes in exhibiting the art work of many eastern shore artists. This provides an excellent occasion for the particular artists to possibly sell their work to tourists from out of state which arrive to view the artists work.

As we progress on in our succession of art we boldly venture upon the 17th century Baroque style. This artistic endeavor was initially inspired by the mandates set forth by the Roman Catholic Church as they laid down specific rules which applied to art work. Their demands to the artist were that any work produced should be understandable to not merely the informed members of the society but to the illiterate as well. This moved art from a pure philosophical viewpoint to one of action.
